Pleasant folk in the office and very helpful. Would not consider this a destination campground based on others we have visited. Sites do not appear to be level, ours certainly was not. No trash pickup. The pond was very small, glad I didn't bring any bait. Pool was closed due to time of year.

This is an old campground that appears to have recently obtained KOA certification. We were left to find our site by ourselves which is not consistent with KOA campgrounds that we have visited before. The roads are gravel with potholes throughout and very dusty. Speed bumps are hidden with gravel buildup which could damage one’s rig. Sites along one side of the lake actually sit in the road which makes it difficult to maneuver in that area, especially in a larger rig. The lake is overrun with algae and weeds. Sites along the lake are nice but there are a lot of flies and ants. We had to hang our trash outside after experiencing ants in our rig --- we asked a staff member if they had anything to eradicate them --- he said he would get back with us but never did. Pull through sites by the office have no shade. You are allowed one free hour a day of WI-FI service but you have to go to the office and get a user name and password. They offer a daily plan for $2.00 per day but don’t bother as the WI-FI does not work. This could be a great campground with modern upgrades.

The draw of this campground is its proximity to local attractions and Boone. All the roads and sites are gravel. The sites are narrow and not level. Most of the timbers marking the sites are rotten and clearly detract from the overall appearance. The lower bath house is dirty and in dire need of an upgrade. Office staff is so so friendly. This campground does not receive the attention needed for it to be a good facility. There is no pool or other activities for children. The owners need to find a buyer who has the money to bring the campground up to modern standards and someone who has the expertise in managing an acceptable facility.

Mapquest directions to this campground are wrong. A very busy place due to it being on Lake Martin. A fair number of seasonals it appeared. Potential for boat noise if site is along water. Staff was fairly friendly but you have to pull information out of the. Good place to stay if going to the Talladega races. Ask the staff for directions if first time.

Nice sites with concrete pads. Friendly staff. Didn't venture out due to being tired but at least this is a good campground for an overnight stay.

Alright for an overnight stay. No scenery. Seems as though campground caters to a lot of seasonals. Site was level with a concrete pad. Very friendly folks in the office. Discount for active and retired military. Didn't venture out in area due to being tired from trip so we don't know what area is like. Suggest you not get a site next to the fence due to barking dogs.

Probably just good for overnight stay. Didn't see much to do in cg. Lady at desk not very friendly. Sort of in the boonies --- no security.

Stayed here many times and always enjoy our stay. Good fishing, friendly and accommodating staff, and access to local attractions. Sites are level and more than adequate as far as size is concerned. Lots of activities on holiday weekends.Highly recommend this campground.

Downsides - all sites on asphalt, only a few sites have shade and at an increased cost. The advertised shuttle, which is sorely needed due to size of park doesn't run continuously. Positives - close to Las Vegas strip, rental cars available through cg office, very reasonable rv washing available. We encountered one couple in the office, that were extremely helpful. Not all of the staff were as pleasant. They were most accomodating. We recommend management develop some sort of shading for the sites as awning use was impractical due to high winds. No picnic tables available. It has some negatives but we would probably stay here again.

Original plan was to stay at local KOA. As retired military I liked this place even though just stayed one night. Active duty military stay free according to road sign. Nice friendly staff. Sites were level. If you are there on a night when they serve food be sure to treat yourself and partake. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Would stop again if in area.

CG is convenient to Rapid City/Hill City attractions. The sites are level. Problems exist with the management of this cg. When making reservations we were not told that only the premium sites had cable tv. The premium sites are nice but not worth the increased rate of $11. Some of the staff were rude and possessed no people skill. I'm 65 years old and didn't know I was a "dude" until told so by one of the staff members. The road in the park was horrible. Deep ruts were everywhere which made traveling around difficult. If one can find another cg in the area then I suggest you go there. The company that owns this cg also owns the Capitol City KOA and the KOA in Harpers Ferry WV. We've stayed at those cgs and they are not much better than this one.

New owners trying to get place in shape. Apparently cg was let go by previous owners. Owners very cooperative and pleasant. Probably a good place to stay overnight but not long-term. We stayed one night and the only thing that really bothered us was the foul odor coming from cattle nearby. From all appearances nothing to do in surrounding area.

Cg in east side of park. Staff was very friendly and helpful. All sites were back-in and somewhat close together if you are towing. Sites were level. No picnic tables so bring a table along to cook on. Many restrictions [understandably] due to wildlife roaming through cg. Convenient to various attractions. Store, fuel, propane, and minor repairs available within 1/4 mile of cg. Camped here in motorhome and would definitely do so again. Bring your bug spray as the mosquitos are big enough to carry anyone weighing less that 100 pounds away.

CG has many amenities but sites close to lake are very narrow and close to each other. They are also difficult to get in and out of. The owners have cleaned this campground up but have gone over board with rules. Seinfield had his "soup nazi" and High Rock Lake CG has its "campground nazis." Break a simple rule and you are chastised to the ultimate. The owners have no people skills at all. There is rarely a smile and one can readily experience their indifference to infrequent customers. Unless the owners change their attitudes, loosen rules, and develop people skills, this cg is headed for rough times and/or sale. We will not be returning due to the treatment recently received from the male owner. There are other cgs in NC that offer as much or more.

Old cg that is not maintained well at all. Camped in Class C along stream. Power kept going off - staff said it was because campers with big rigs were running their a/cs. This was unacceptable - owners should upgrade electrical lines to accomodate modern day campers. Staff said corrective action would not be taken as the power only goes off about three times a year. This is especialy bad if campers go off and leave pets in their rigs, as several of us did. As we were packing up to depart, another camper turned the water off and the whole faucet came off shooting water up in the air. Another example of poor maintenance. Recommend you pass this one up if you are in the Boone area.

Very nice campground. Security is great and staff is very helful. One of the few campgrounds in the area that accepts pets. A little pricey but you're on Cape Cod. Sites are well maintained. Didn't use many of the facilities as we traveled extensively while in there. Would return and recommend it for a vacation. Very good campground for the young and old alike. A lot of seasonals but wasn't a problem. Stayed in site 30 and site 53.

Nice campground. We were told it had only been open two years. Still some way to go to be a top notch facility, but certainly recommend it. It looked like there were plenty of activities for children. Very good place to stay if visiting Hershey and the other local attractions. Nice restaurant on grounds. Friendly staff and very helpful.

Like this place. Sites are level but some are a little short especially if you're towing. Fishing pond and river behind campground which is good for fishing and tubing. Rental tubes available at office. A little tough to get to from I-81. Road is somewhat narrow but we saw Class As there. We were in a Class C. Lots of wild rabbits and ducks for the kiddies to look at. Good location to visit the attractions around Staunton.
